Artist’s Statement

Working in oil on canvas and panels, I aim to draw close attention to the elements of landscapes and still lifes, the riches they bestow, and mysteries they offer. I hope my compositions, which are frequently square, provide containment that encourages lingering with images and engaging with imagination. Some might say my use of thin paint and lack of gesture add to a sense of transparency, inviting the viewer into the image, which is my intent.
